Michigan's DNA Law

Michigan's DNA testing law is set to expire at the end of the year. The bill to improve and extend the law has passed the house and is stuck in the senate judiciary committee. The chair Senator Kuipers is sitting on the bill and thus far is refusing meetings with representatives from the Cooley Innocence Project.

This law is very important, without it no one in Michigan can request the court for DNA testing to prove their innocence. If you know someone in the Michigan Senate call them today. Ask to have a hearing on HB 5089.
